What: After an alarming post on applenet that speaks of a compromised system, everyone deals with this as best they can: with heaps of paranoia.
Where: All over Eddan, presumably
When: The remaining seven days

For most, summer vacation is a blessed time, at least for those who attend the prestigious Green Valley. So much hard work that's put into the classes they attend must be rewarded with a wonderful break, and various apartments, homes, and the streets of Eddan itself are filled with the excited chatter of students who are enjoying the sweet summer air.

However, for a certain chosen few...

I see you. These are the words which might be weighing down on them heavily even as they attempt to go about their established lives, a gloom that even the brilliant sunshine can't block. For those who know the truth of Eddan, it's frightening to know that something like the dangerous Shadows they've seen might be coming for them while they're unprepared. For those who've had yet to Awaken, who are still new to all of this.... Perhaps they might be dismissing it, perhaps their lack of knowledge makes it all the more scary, but either way...

The question remains: what are they going to do in response?

[For Awakened characters, some things to keep in mind:
1 - It's been suggested for characters to pick up Control Tower to get fit
2 - They're on the lookout for somewhere outside the school apartments to meet up at since that makes it tricky for non-dorm students and also the adults
3 - Genda has let loose some sheep as identifying markers.]

Normally John didn't take morning shifts during the work week due to obligations at school. However, his mom had asked him as a favor since one of the normal workers had called in saying they'd be late. It was his mom, so he couldn't exactly say no. However, his replacement would hopefully be in soon, though the timing was uncertain...something about her dog getting out of the yard and needing to be caught.

He wasn't really paying attention, but when he heard his name stated with such familiarity he looked up. It took him a minute, but only because he wasn't used to seeing him here. "Sein? Morning! It's good to see you."

"Wow, it's been ages. I was wondering if you were still here." Sein manages a smile for his former classmate. He remembers trading their respective specialties during lunch for fun; John and his family had more than a few things he really enjoyed. "I just got back from studying abroad. Eddan hasn't changed too much from what I've seen. So... how've you been?"

"It has! That's right...I forgot you were doing that," John admitted, "How was your trip?" It seemed so long ago, especially now. John wondered if the timing of his return meant anything, but figured that was just his newfound paranoia talking. He returned the smile, "Yep, still here and I'm doing just fine, I mean, there's not much that's changed for me either since you left." Which was technically a lie, given the stuff with the app, but John wasn't about to just blurt that out to an old friend.

He then remembered he was supposed to be working and, more specifically, taking an order.

"You're actually catching me by chance--I'm covering for someone else. So you were saying something about a hazlenut cafe mocha?"

"Yes! A large, please. I'm caff-crashing pretty hard." And that will make his nerves a hundred times worse. He doesn't want to hit up his emergency meds, not when he has a long day ahead. He'd be a zombie and nothing will get done.

While John makes his order, Sein sizes up his the other man. John hasn't changed much, which is strangely comforting. Familiarity breeds calm for Sein. Adapting to school abroad took a lot out of him. Most of it's a blur. "If you're just covering right now, what are you usually up to these days?"

John smiled, putting in the order even as he replied, "A large it is. It'll be ready soon." They were having a slow morning so it probably would only take a few minutes. Thankfully he didn't also have to man the drinks--someone else would get the order from the system and, with no one in line behind Sein, he could continue to catch up a bit.

"School mostly. Mom still says that's a priority. I'm also still on the student council, though only as a representative so I don't have to do as much work as some of the officers," John explained. "I've been...trying to make more friends too. I think being a tutor has helped with that." He'd never been quite as shy as Sein, but John also wasn't the most social butterfly either. People like Kei helped with that, but John preferred other methods of socializing beyond parties. Of course, as he said it, he was thinking more of the friendships he'd made on the app, but he couldn't exactly mention that.
