003 - Gathering

Who: Any and all Awakened characters
What: An invitation for a meeting of the Awakened in anticipation of the newest countdown.
When: June 23/24, especially during the latest applenet post
Where: Chikusa's school apartment at Green Valley
Other: Consider this a mingle log for all Awakened characters to talk freely about the newest batch on the app, the new countdown, and when they get their sweet new duds again!

Ciro Bonavida's apartment is rather easy to find. Not only are the instructions left at the pawnshop written in a neat and clear hand, but the school apartments have a directory of their own, of course. While some of the older members of the group might normally draw a raised eyebrow, well... It's Solstice. The apartments aren't as filled as they normally might be in some areas with their occupants out partying, and the parties that are happening inside draw all sorts. No one, in this particular instance, will look twice.

As a bonus to make sure there's no doubt at all, the door on Ciro's apartment has a small paper sign taped to the front. My roommate is OUT! Around it, small happy sheep are drawn. Apparently he's taken inspiration from someone...

Any one of the Awakened who come over can do so as early as they like and stay to the following morning, if they want- Chikusa is fairly certain that Ciro's roommate is going to stay out for a good long while and isn't worried. Still, for anyone staying overnight (a necessity if they want to stay up for the app post to come up), he'd rather it if you went to crash at one of the many parties going on in the apartment buildings... He doesn't have room for everyone, you know, especially since none of you jerks are coming into his bedroom if he has any say about it.

As a bonus, every Awakened is treated to hot chocolate, tea, coffee, or iced tea in one of Ciro's many... many... mugs. Enjoy.

Guts has been mostly spacing in and out of any discussion that didn't involve him, slouched at the table like a particularly grumpy mountain.

He slouches backward and sighs, sipping some horrendous black coffee mix out of a shitty paper cup. No cute mugs for Gattsu. There are a lot of kids here, more then he would have expected. That's...worrisome. Luci would involve kids in such battles? His eyes slip down to the bag beside the kid sitting near him and he nearly spits out his drink.

Guts likes kids far to much to get actively angry about this boy carrying around mementos from that night but it sure won't stop him from glaring at Genda for the rest of the night when he thinks the kid isn't looking.

(Un)Luckily for Guts, Genda is used to being glared and stared down for various reasons back home. Especially when he was placed on the main soccer team instead of within the reserves. So for a few moments the stare is ignored as he finishes the last of his notes. Notes that if Guts looks down at during a few moments when the notebook is placed down now and again when someone speaks to Genda or so he may see some familiar names from the app and some random observations about them.

Though after a while Guts is treated to Genda looking up at him with a slow blink and a look one might find on a bored cat.

"Glasya-Labolas with number indicator five?"

"Its Guts." Thats as much of a confirmation as you're getting. He takes a sip of his coffee to hide a scowl. He looks at the sheep. He tries to resist asking about the sheep.

"You taking notes? Little creepy. We all just met you know. "

"Better to prepare now in regards to who works well with another or who may not be as seamless as a unit without a foil between them. Knowing everyone's preferences, personality, and disposition now means better tactical awareness if what we experienced becomes common in our future."

It's no different then learning who works well on a team in soccer or exposing a weak link due to infighting in an opposing team.

"Much like using even a negative for something productive."

Gut's eyes widen and he shakes his head with a chuckle. "Yikes kid. Aren't you like twelve? I'm sure we all appreciate a tactician, but that's a little...effed up."

He leans onto a hand. 'Whats the verdict then? You've gotten a dream team assembled yet?"

"I'm a support. I do what is needed to make certain the tactician can keep their eyes trained where they are most needed and to perform whatever duty is needed of me by their orders. This is just data compilation and personal notes regarding any strained interactions noted."

He's not really going to comment on that age thing. It was likely more just an observation about him being young, which isn't that uncommon to those that didn't know of Teikoku's education program.

"It's not my place to decide who is an ideal team."

"The tactician?" He eyes the rest of the room. Everyone here looks like a dumbass to him. And nobody's creepily hovering around this kid, ensuring his behavior. Still...his words are ringing quite a few bells. He fixes Genda with an intense stare.

"Somebody here got you up to this kid? Cuz when somebody says something "ain't your place" they usually aren't worth the listening to."

He shrugs. "Just my experience."

If Genda acted more like his fourteen years of age there likely would have been a lot of bristling and angry looks over the implied insult in that. Instead there's just a narrowing of already slanted eyes that make the bluish silver darken to storm grey for a moment as his face blanks into a neutral expression.

"I came of my own power and accord."

The last part is only begging to lead into an argument most likely, but to leave it is to allow Guts to make opinions about his teammates that are horrible and wrong.

"Every person on a field of battle has a place where their strengths work best. It takes dedication and knowledge to realize this and allow those that can lead to lead your team to victory. That's the trust we place in those of a higher rank."

"Huh? Good for you then." He doesn't really buy it, but the flash of anger tells him to drop it.

He holds his hand up. "Yo. I don't disagree with what your saying at all kid. Knowing your function on the battlefield is great and all, but you shouldn't feel like it applies when your not on it. That's why I never joined an army."

"In many ways we're in a war if you look at what is in our future. To become lax now is asking for trouble when we're not prepared."

For a moment it seems like that's it on Genda's end of the conversation. However that just reminded him of why he was here and the fact the other had more or less given an affirmative on who they were on the app.

"Regardless of differing opinions. My identifying you earlier was for a reason."

And here there's a small bit of emotion back in his face as he frowns up at the other.

"Considering your altercations with Luci regarding such things. Is there an animal you wish to use as an identifier? If the pattern isn't too complicated I can have it ready in a week."

"If that's your decision..." There isn't exactly anything wrong with what he's saying...but hearing a child say it is uncomfortable.

He blinks. "Huh?" His eyes traval down to the bag. "Ooh. Uh..."

He isn't really...an animal person. Sheep is an insult and the only other thing that comes to head is a dog but...

You're no better then a mad dog!

Not many fond memories there either. A pity. Gabe liked dogs.

He shrugs. "I don't really need anything.. Some people called me a dog a lot in the past but but really anything but a hawk is fine...Luci just pisses me off in general."

Once again there's just a slow blink in reply at that. Until Genda turns away for a moment to rummage through a side pocket in the overly large bag he was using. While colored, mostly in neutral colors like browns, blacks, and grays; they're less ribbons and more leather cords that are soon twisted and wrapped around one another before wrapping around a small black stone that sits about as perfectly middle in the length of the banded item as one can get. Once tied off a white paint marker is then used to carefully draw the crossed swords symbol that had followed many of them from their first day finding that app.

"It's small enough to be kept in a pocket, but it's something if you just need a quick visual way to confirm you know of this application."

There isn't even hesitation or question as the long band that could easily wrap around a wrist if one wanted, is held up to Guts.

Gut's expression doesn't change, but his eyes light up a little. He very gently takes it from Genda, turns it over in his hand. "Nice work. You going to become an-" The word isn't artisan here, its not its not whats the correct term?? "-artist?"

Sadly, he putting on bracelets one handed is pretty impossible so he slips it into a jacket pocket instead. The urge to ruffle the kids hair appears but he quickly stamps it out. "Useful. And much better then a sheep."

"No. It's just a skill learned at the behest of family."

It's a simple statement given without any thought or feeling behind it. Instead he's more focused on the useful comment given.

"I didn't want to use such at first due to how easily overlooked they could be for those who are still unaware of many things regarding our situation."

And now it circles back around to why he had identified Guts with his applenet name.

"I apologize for capitalizing on Luci's goading, but at the time it was something easily overlooked by outsiders, while giving a clue to all burdened with this application."

"Huh? So you don't like it?" Guts had never had any time for any artistic pursuits beside poking shapes in dirt or maybe shaving sticks into points with a knife.

"I don't think anyone expected this thing to go so far. Such things wouldn't have been unnecessary then..."

He sighs. "Its fine. Little shit got a rise outta me way to easy. I ain't mad at you about it kid."

He glares a little at the bag. "You might understand that sheep also piss me off a bit now."

"It is a skill, nothing more. My preference for it isn't needed regarding such."

That's all he says on that matter, instead tilting his head in acknowledgement at Guts' statement over the sheep.

"I'll keep such in mind if we ever gather the majority of us together and decide on a more universal symbol as an identifier."
