A. Classroom, Lower Cycle Third Year

Class has just ended, and after everything that's happened recently, he's curious to check in on that bizarre chatroom. He pulls out his phone, a bit careful to set it so most other people shouldn't be able to see the screen, since he found out about that whole "really seriously private" thing after talking to the one person on the chat.

It doesn't seem to be any good, though, no matter how he holds the thing. There's too many people around and it just won't open. After a possibly weird looking few seconds of him trying different things, he gives up and drops the phone on his desk.

"Ugh, really?"

B. A School Courtyard

[At this point, he's trying to get his mind off of that weird app. Besides, whatever's going on, he still has homework to do, and since he doesn't have anything better to be doing at the moment, he may as well work on that. Time to plop himself down on a bench and pull out whatever that book is that he's supposed to be reading for his English class.]

C. Martial Arts Dojo

He shows up to his usual class, and goes about doing whatever exercises he's given as usual. And at first he seems just as laid back about it all as usual, but somewhere in the middle he remembers talking with someone on the chat about how being able to defend himself might be more relevant now than it has been. This class, he might be a little more invested in practicing that punch just a few more times.

D. His neighborhood

[Asher is out in his front yard, and so is a cat. It's not one he recognises, and he can't help wondering where it belongs. There's a bunch of strays around his neighborhood, so it could be one of them, but it seems pretty friendly for that. In any case, since the cat pretty happily came over to him, he kneels down in the yard to pet it.]

I don't have any food for you, though...

[Tigers, what? As for the video, he frowns at her, then sighs slightly.]

It's just a cat that wandered into the yard.

[What the heck is she talking about? Clearly, she's been watching too much TV. With a sigh, she turns the video off and sticks her phone in her pocket.]

[Her name? Asher isn't even convinced the cat is a 'her'. He raises an eyebrow at her.]

I don't know. It's not like I name every cat I meet.

[And given the neighborhood he lives in, meeting a random cat isn't really an unusual occurrence.]

[She's keeping her distance, but she sort of wishes she could approach the cat, too...but she might scare it away. Hm.]

If you're not going to name her, do you mind if I name her? I've already got one in mind.

[Ayu immediately looks a bit grumpy. Most girls her age have friends to hang out with after school, and this guy won't even let her name a cat while she waits for Natsu to get home.]

Her name is Gerald.

[He opens his mouth and then pauses a second, deciding not to bother pointing out that Gerald is a boy's name.]

[Ayu has a feeling he does. She saw how he was acting.]

It's short for something else, anyways.

[It's the only thing he can think of that it would be short for, but at this point he's expecting her to come up with something a lot weirder.]

[He expected right. Still, Ayu stands there like she's waiting for a reaction. Any kind of reaction. She'll just repeat it if he says nothing.]

[Unfortunately for her, his reaction is going to be exactly the nothing she's trying to avoid. He just stares back at her incredulously.]

[It's immature of her to repeat the joke. Maybe that's why she doesn't really have friends at school. He reacts pretty much like everyone else does.]

[She stares. This is really disappointing. And she's frustrated, too, which doesn't exactly bring out her best qualities.

Her reply is one simple word.]

Gutter-mouth.

[She's clearly mocking his last name.]

[It actually takes him a second to register that as a poke at his name as opposed to just a bizarre insult, at which point, she does get a reaction, at least.]

Hey! [After a brief moment of surprised offense, his eyes narrow and he just looks at her harshly. He's been around her long enough to know better than to react too much to taunting.] That's not nice.

Of course it's not nice! But it's even less nice to stand there and not react to any of my jokes. Can't you see how hard I'm trying?

[She doesn't make a fair point at all, but what else is new. This is how Ayu sees the world sometimes.]
