Who: Rob LeBlanc and anyone at the Lazarus Bell/Hseih Center
What: Fire inspection and totally not trying to eat the lavender cake on the job
When: December 14
Where: Lazarus Bell Cafe

It's slightly late, but that's bureaucracy for you. Rob LeBlanc is the lucky firefighter who has to go to the Lazarus Bell and inspect it for fire safety violations. After all, it's a school function, and Rob's husband works for the school, and everyone at the firehouse wants to see if he'll chicken out.

But no, Rob is a professional. He can do this without worrying that his husband will pick on him later if he's too hard on the kids.

Also there is cake. And that is always a bonus.

He's on his second slice as he finishes looking around the dining area. "Everything looks pretty good over here. Just be careful with the decorations--easy for a power surge during the holidays."

Tristan had an idea that his husband would be at the cafe today. He didn't know exactly when, and it's really more coincidence than anything that they happen to overlap. Tristan has been a regular customer since they opened.

He smiles as he spots his husband from across the room, predictably with cake even as he clearly is in the middle of inspecting the room. He easily closes the distance and reaches over to pinch off a piece of Rob's slice of cake, avoiding the frosted parts so he won't end up with it all over his fingers.

"Irresistible, isn't it?" he comments with some amusement before popping the small bit of cake into his mouth.

Oh, really, he didn't take much. Though that reaction isn't a surprise, and he only chuckles at it.

"Hello to you, too."

"With a piece of cake, I assumed you were done."

It's said just teasingly enough for Rob to catch that no, he really didn't, but also... fire inspection or not, his husband was walking around one of his new regular hangouts with cake. He doubts he's really getting in the way.

"That's good to hear." It's in no way his project, but with all the work he knows the students have put into this place, he can't help being relieved that it's all going smoothly.

And since Rob still has most of a piece of cake, he nods toward a table. "Do you want to sit down while you finish that?"

Now that he's not taking the clear opportunity for teasing, he politely takes the seat across from Rob and lets him eat the rest of his cake without interference. And stays quiet while he's obviously working on his report, though the comments earns a raised eyebrow.

"Hm?"

Well, that sounds familiar.

"You too?" He's been trying to get rid of a certain mysterious app for a while now.

He nods, grudgingly. "I asked someone at the school to take a look at it, but didn't have any luck." Actually they couldn't even find the program when they looked, but it had popped back up again. He's not sure how that works, but it must be a very advanced sort of virus. Either that or a particularly intelligent student of his played a very complicated prank, but he'd rather not accuse and that seems especially unlikely if Rob wound up with the same thing.

Tristan's eyes widen slightly as he realises what Rob is doing... but he's not going to argue. After the weird conversation he had with the IT office a while back, he was certainly curious, but since he uses his phone for some work-related things, he didn't dare tempt fate.

That said, he is peering very intently across the table now, not that he can see Rob's screen clearly at all. "What is it?"

"Someone else's name?" Tristan can't help how skeptical he sounds. Literally none of this makes sense.

Well that's... odd. Though probably not any odder than the app hiding from the person he asked about it.

"Using a fake name is probably a good idea, in any case."
