Who: Vermouth and Conan Edogawa
Where: Leviathan Habitat
Summary: A long overdue meeting
Warnings: Filled with secrets
By now, Vermouth has had plenty of time to think over her current situation. While unexpected and jarring, the trials with the Shadows seemed no more threatening than her life back home. Although she dislikes being led along, she has realized that she has to adapt.
For that she needs information. Allies. Things that are much harder to come by now that she no longer has a world-wide organization to fall back on.
However, she had someone in mind.
A public discussion was out of the question. She had too many dangerous secrets, with the new addition of their Rebel activities. So she needs to be discreet.
Near the end of the drama club's meeting, "Christina" passes out fliers for upcoming events to each of the students. As she reaches Conan, she slips a small notecard in with the papers and hands it to him. On it is a simple message, plus a date and time.
She'll be waiting for you, detective.

What is your favorite part of the aquarium?
She'll be waiting for you, detective.

At the requested time, he waits.

Like the opportunity to dramatically step out of the shadows.
Once Conan arrives, Vermouth walks forward from the darkened corner, her heels clacking sharply against the floor as she approaches. She's dressed in simple yet elegant fall style.
"So you came."
no subject
"Was there any doubt?" They weren't allies, and he knew better than to ever trust her. But in this situation, there were things that needed to be said.
no subject
Not allies? Why detective, you could hurt her feelings! While on opposite sides of the law, she sees him as an undisputable ally in her push back against the Organization. Or perhaps it would be more accurate that she sees him as a tool. The ultimate Silver Bullet.
"A sliver, perhaps. You can never be too certain." A wiser guy might have avoided being alone with someone so dangerous. She smirks down at him. "Still, I suspected you would not disappoint."
no subject
He was quite certain that she'd be disappointed if he ever trusted her more than that.
"Considering the situation, there aren't many options."
no subject
Besides, trust is pretty foreign to her. Most likely it'd baffle her.
"Lucky me." They're also lucky that the aquarium is not terribly crowded at this time. Of course, it was mostly due to Vermouth doing research in advance. Vermouth turns and leans against the glass, arms crossed. She turns her head to watch the sharks swim pass.
"Though I must admit, I hadn't expected a creature with such a fearsome reputation to be your favorite."

no subject
"Is that so? I suppose I can see your reasoning." The thoughtful moment passes, and she smirks darkly.
"Yet that sounds more like a member to me."
no subject
"I'd rather not start that debate."
Debating the philosophical differences between detectives and criminals was annoying enough when it was coming from that thief.
no subject
She shrugs, hardly seeming fazed at all.
"Suit yourself. Let's get right to business then."
no subject
He suspected that this was a meeting for a truce, but it would be best to have confirmation.
no subject
This is not quite true. Yes, her intentions are not fully ironed out yet in this strange place where the Organization is no longer obviously breathing over her shoulder. However, Vermouth has at least developed a working plan: play along with the Velvet Room until she's figured this place out and enjoy her fake life while she can. A peaceful life is a rare luxury for her.
As for this meeting, she knows exactly what she wants. Information.
"What about you?"

Vermouth's smile broadens, unsurprised by his answer. "Oh? How far have you gotten in reaching that goal?"
no subject
He was extremely grumpy about this.
no subject
Her face remains unchanged from her pleasantly amused demeanor.
"But of course. You won't be pleased with the pursuit until you have all the answers."
Vermouth flips her hair casually over one shoulder and reaches into her jacket pocket for a cigarette. Her hand stops as she remembers that this identity doesn't smoke. She smooths out the fabric instead for a recovery.
"Right now I can settle for less. What do you know about our situation?"
