The tourniquet had proven to be quite effective, Heiji successfully stopped the bleeding, at least until he could seek proper attention for his wound. The deep cut on his palm was still exposed, however, and susceptible to infection. (Dia would have proved useful here, but Heiji still hadn't come to term with being a navigator, or the fact that he had access to spells.) The magic that was capable of dealing with this level of insanity, and yet Heiji had refused it all.
Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, Ran fell into sight. At first, Heiji was met with a feeling of relief, but at the same time, he grew more anxious. Nothing about this school was safe, she wasn't safe. Of course, his feelings for her still ran deep (in random spurts), but that was to be addressed when they weren't in danger of being killed.
