003 - Gathering

Who: Any and all Awakened characters
What: An invitation for a meeting of the Awakened in anticipation of the newest countdown.
When: June 23/24, especially during the latest applenet post
Where: Chikusa's school apartment at Green Valley
Other: Consider this a mingle log for all Awakened characters to talk freely about the newest batch on the app, the new countdown, and when they get their sweet new duds again!

Ciro Bonavida's apartment is rather easy to find. Not only are the instructions left at the pawnshop written in a neat and clear hand, but the school apartments have a directory of their own, of course. While some of the older members of the group might normally draw a raised eyebrow, well... It's Solstice. The apartments aren't as filled as they normally might be in some areas with their occupants out partying, and the parties that are happening inside draw all sorts. No one, in this particular instance, will look twice.

As a bonus to make sure there's no doubt at all, the door on Ciro's apartment has a small paper sign taped to the front. My roommate is OUT! Around it, small happy sheep are drawn. Apparently he's taken inspiration from someone...

Any one of the Awakened who come over can do so as early as they like and stay to the following morning, if they want- Chikusa is fairly certain that Ciro's roommate is going to stay out for a good long while and isn't worried. Still, for anyone staying overnight (a necessity if they want to stay up for the app post to come up), he'd rather it if you went to crash at one of the many parties going on in the apartment buildings... He doesn't have room for everyone, you know, especially since none of you jerks are coming into his bedroom if he has any say about it.

As a bonus, every Awakened is treated to hot chocolate, tea, coffee, or iced tea in one of Ciro's many... many... mugs. Enjoy.

"... If he's close enough to be family... then I'll protect him, too. ... But you come first." He doesn't know this person, doesn't have memories of this person. He's pretty sure, at least. So he'll listen to his heart on this one.

Jaune nodded, "Yeah--yeah that works. And I think even those of us who aren't in gardening club have friends that are OR flowers and gardening are open enough to be hobbies that even the adults among us might have." And since the city was pretty big on flowers, given they had a whole festival about it, the conversation would actually be pretty natural in his opinion.

"Then I guess if someone is faded we could say the flower has wilted?"

"I'll keep such in mind."

Even if he doesn't really wish to do so. The gauntlets made him have to be far too close to something that he can't look away when an enemy has to die by his hands, even if it's just some almost sentient moving shadow.

"Though, if there is such an incident do we have enough of an idea to find those that are not aware of what such means?"

"It is a skill, nothing more. My preference for it isn't needed regarding such."

That's all he says on that matter, instead tilting his head in acknowledgement at Guts' statement over the sheep.

"I'll keep such in mind if we ever gather the majority of us together and decide on a more universal symbol as an identifier."

"Yes, an identifier seemed imperative at the time without being overly obvious regarding such."

There really isn't much else to it as Genda takes back the notebook, quickly looking it over before committing the details to memory and placing it back in his bag.

"There was not much time to coordinate with others regarding such."

"I had thought about such, until recently attempting such was a bit cumbersome."

As they were all still reeling from their own awakening, plus attempting to keep their heads down before this second group had arrived.

"I have a notebook of notes and observations that could be left for another to inherit in such a case. However, right now finding those willing to do so and pass such on is not easily available. Especially amidst the newer ones."

Frankly he hasn't been that impressed by most of the new ones and a lot of those from their group have been worryingly absent recently.

"We...might not. But we can't just sit back either...so I guess we'd just have to try to figure out where they're at," Jaune admits. The new group and the censorship of the app would prevent an effective search and rescue. Jaune hopes it doesn't come to that, but he knows by now that they should prepare for anything. "Do you think they would be targeted though? We're the ones Awakened, not them...at least not fully."

There's a slow nod. This entire thing is still strange to him, a situation he has no reference for... But, in a way, he's too greedy to want to let go of this chance Ciro has given him.

So he nods. "...If he's near the same age as me, then he's probably attending this school." Other schools, what other schools, no, Mukuro is definitely here and nowhere else.

"It's possible." He doesn't want to get Chikusa's hopes up too high, but... "Which means we'll see him eventually." We, not just Chikusa. They'll have to fight again, he knows it.

Eddan is obnoxiously full of flowers, it's true. Part of what makes it such a inconspicuous code to use. Jaune's suggestion has Chikusa nodding thoughtfully, appreciating the addition to this still in-process project.

"And our enemies would be pests."

Well. It's not like Chikusa hasn't also been heavily judging some of them. There's a decent chance that some of them will shape up when they become who they truly are inside, no longer blinded by this farce of a life... But he's not putting his hopes up.

"So there's no one that's caught your attention so far?"

There's already eight different answer to that he can think of, all that fit with how the Commander had led them and somehow he feels if whatever this is has even half the mind of that man it would lead down one of those paths.

"Strategically we are the greater threat...in the short term. Long term however, if they target those that would bolster our numbers would be the ideal target for many reasons."

It was not that far from the scare tactics and intimidation they had been groomed and trained to do in Teikoku. If the other team was already believing they couldn't win then Teikoku had already won before they had even set foot on a field. If they couldn't protect those that had not yet awaken it was both a blow to their fighting numbers, but also something that would eat away in their minds regarding if they were strong or smart enough to fight against this.

"If they are smart they would go for those we should be protecting instead of us."

"If there was they'll likely not be as ideal in time."

Because so far, of those that have made it this far, few of them have been exactly as they were when memories were returned.

"If nothing else instructions have been created for the event I can not keep up with demands or become unavailable long term."

Meaning he's just going to create enough and varied call signs until he gets help or he ends up lost or dead, thus making one of the many notebooks he's creating needed for someone else to keep it going.

A slow nod. "He'll be better when he wakes up.... Not many people can defeat him, and he's smart too..." Well, he has plenty of flaws as well, from his temper to his melodrama, but Chikusa doesn't mention that. They're all things for him and Ken to deal with on their own, and other people can butt out.

"He's the reason I'm alive. So... He'll do well with all of this."

He reaches up and gently ruffles Chikusa's hair through his hat.

"Then I'm glad he's here. Because I'm glad you're here."

"It's true..." Chikusa adjusts his glasses, faintly annoyed. He'd like to think that Luci will be able to get them into a situation like the last one: minimal danger, with their own worst enemies each other as their memories hit them. Still, do they really have to be flung in so recklessly...

Something occurs to him, and he shifts slightly. "...I wonder if there's better ways to prepare them for all of this. Beyond how the memories do. Things that could get a better look at their abilities than how they act on the app."

Jaune smiled because it was both a good suggestion and it amused him. "That's a good one. Do you think we'd be able to use it to get around the censorship of the app? It might be something to look into--though I guess for those who are new it wouldn't really matter. But we'd have to figure out some way to spread it around without it being so suspicious."

Leaving a code laying around would defeat the purpose of it, wouldn't it?

Jaune hadn't thought of it that way, but it made a lot of sense. The shadows they fought that night hadn't seemed capable of planning like that...which once again pointed to something or someone behind even the shadows. Which, made sense if they were just wild like the Grimm there would probably be more attacks and they wouldn't be targeted like this.

"Yeah...that makes sense. And since they aren't Awakened they would be the easier targets--especially if we don't know who all is in that group," Jaune added, though he figured Genda already knew that as well.

Out of anything he could have expected, a hair ruffle wasn't even on the list, and Chikusa goes still. For a second, there's only a couple of bemused blinks from wide and confused eyes. Ciro's memories say this isn't unusual or strange, but... Ciro's memories seem so distantly foggy now, overlapped by Chikusa's stronger ones.

Eventually, all he can muster up is a confused nod as he lightly touches his hat. Sorry, Makoto, you've gone and broken him.

"That's the problem...." Reaching up, he fiddles with his glasses until they're right back in place, although it's not as if they'd moved much beforehand anyway. "If we write anything down, then we run the risk of an enemy finding it in a worst case scenario. On the other hand, if we try to spread it through each other.... We still all have the risk of one another breaking and 'falling alseep' again." A quiet but annoyed sigh.

"If we had a headquarters of some sort that wasn't here... We could try to organize things around there, and leave some sort of hint to the code."

"... Sorry. I used to do that to Kanon when we were younger..." He shouldn't have done that. He doesn't really know Chikusa. But he can't help but feel similarly...

"It's.... fine?"

Chikusa doesn't sound fine. He sounds very and incredibly lost, fingers still curled up near his hat.

"... I won't do it if it makes you feel uncomfortable." You gotta work with him, Chikusa.

"If we can physically collect them as they appear, one could manipulate events to see what their bodies may or may not be capable of before they fully regain their other self."

The pause comes off as thoughtful after that, though mostly it's more for Genda to mentally grimace and brace himself for what sort of mentality he is advocating regarding all of this.

"Instead of worrying about making them believe everything, perhaps playing along that it's all some promotion or city event would make our task easier in cataloging which ones will be problematic in an attack."

Listen, what the hell is 'working with someone'? Still, he seems to be trying to sort out his words, making sure no one is nearby. This seems far too vulnerable, and he doesn't trust even half of the people in this room.

"...No one's ever done it before."
