As it was neither a left eye or a right eye, it's impossible for him to link it directly to the Eye of Horus, unless the ambiguity should mean that it is both? Its inclusion is certainly worth considering. With it, the mark he saw is more complete, both sun and moon represented...but without knowing what the unknown symbol was supposed to mean, he can only hypothesize.
