It wasn't Fubuki's fault at all, in Kidou's mind. Fubuki did nothing wrong - he did what he needed to, was exactly where he needed to be, fought bravely and relentlessly with all of the strength Kidou could ever have asked him for. It was Kidou who dodged the wrong way. Maybe it really couldn't have been avoided, but Kidou doubts that, deep down. It was Kidou's fault any of that happened. He should have been watching more than just the enemy before them.

It won't happen again.

"What about you? I couldn't see much after that."

After all, this was Fubuki's first fight - and what a first fight that was. It was nothing like the free for all in the orchard, where he could see everything easily and the sky was open, instead of a dark, yawning abyss that may or may not hold additional horrors lying in wait. Compared to this fight, that first one barely counted.

And still... people folded in the time before that fight and after. That just made this one seem even more threatening than it had at the time.
